Megan Garlapow is a medical writer who works in a variety of therapeutic areas to deliver high quality medical communication documents.
Medical writing training: Dr. Garlapow actively develops her medical writing abilities. She attends the annual American Medical Writers’ Association (AMWA) conference and is enrolled in AMWA’s Essential Skills certificate program.
Academic training in genetics and physiology: Megan earned her Ph.D. in Genetics from North Carolina State University in quantitative and behavioral genetics. Her bioinformatic and bench research on the genetics and genomics of appetite and feeding prepared her to understand the signaling pathways involved in growth, metabolism, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. As a postdoctoral researcher at Arizona State University, she examined the genetic, physiological, and environmental regulation of body weight. Additionally, her graduate and postdoctoral research addressed two traits which are closely related to the etiology of cancer.
Personal interests: Megan enjoys the myriad of wonders found when adventuring in the outside world, particularly among big mountains, preferably via bicycle or skis.
